Shop update here tomorrow, Friday February 27th at 2pm EST!!
So, it's been two weeks since my last episode. I'm not sure if I should stick with this biweekly schedule or really try to push out episodes weekly. It's a bit tasking as a work at home mom running a business, starting a new business and trying to record podcasts on top of some selfish knitting (; For now, I'll plan on biweekly episodes and if there are a few weekly episodes thrown in then it will be a pleasnt surprise!
WIPs
- Vanilla Burger socks in my Bob's Burgers bag both from Nomadic Yarns
- Flax sweater in my own hand dyed yarn by Tin Can Knits
- memories blanket – played with cast
on stitches, different size needles, yadda yadda finally found what I
like. C/O 40 stitches on US size 6 needles.
FOs
- crochet coasters with slip stitch contrasting color
Loch Ness and Sugar Plum Fairy are now in the shop as dyed to order skeins. Later this afternoon I will be listing a purple gradient as well as my Rick and Morty Collection. I will also be listing project bags in a sock size, shawl size and tetrahedron notions pouches. You can find my Etsy shop here.
We've moved! We aren't totally settled yet, but I couldn't stand to put off recording any longer.
As always, please join us in the Ravelry group, Moonbeam Makes Podcast. We've got 44 members. I'd really love to do a 100 member giveaway once we reach that milestone.
Special thanks to everyone who has already joined the group, commented on threads and given feedback for my first two episodes. It really means a lot to me! Don't forget about the thread where you can list all of your favorite podcasts, knitting related or not.
WIPs
- Great Up North Mittens are still on the needles. I do not show these as I haven't made much progress.
- I decided not to cast on the Moonraker shawl, but have decided on the Tailwind by Clara Falk Instead. I'm using Knit Picks Palette fingering in rouge, lichen, shoal, and oyster heather.
- Cozy Memories Blanket - 3 new squares
- Vanilla Burger Socks // "Beefsquatch" by Nomadic Yarns in the Trusty Sock base
Stash Enhancement
- "Beefsquatch" as previously mentioned
- Belcher Family sock cube from Nomadic Yarns
- Mystery Skein from Voolenvine Yarns // "Faerie Moss" on the Silky base
- "Stormy Day" from The Lemonade Shop
Personal Notes
I need to find an LYS near my new home. What I've read about certain stores around here doesn't sound too welcoming. I'd rather not put my town out on the open internet, so if you have any LYS suggestions in North/NorthWest New Jersey, please feel free to email me or send me a message on Ravelry.
New sewing machine from mom for my birthday! I'll be posting some new project bags in my Etsy shop soon as well as embarking on a new crafty business venture, which I am keeping under wraps for now.
Hoping for an Ikea trip this weekend as I have never been. I specifically want to purchase this rug.
I've upgraded my set up! I finally figured out a way to get my DSLR set up nicely sans tripod. I really should invest in one of those. Yay for better video quality! Audio too!
We have a Ravelry Group! Please come and join us. Say hello and stay a while.
My life and yarn stash (let's face it, my stash basically is my life) is all packed up into boxes this week. We're moving to the mountains of North Jersey in just two short weeks and I was only allowed to keep out yarn for current projects. This is sad.
To start, I'd really like to thank Holli from the Swift Knits Podcast as well as Nina from The Natural Needler Podcast for the sweet shout outs in their most recent episodes. You gals are amazing!
Finished Objects - ZILCH.

After watching knitting and fiber arts podcasts for the majority of last year and really wanting to start my own, I've decided to jump right in with the new year.
So here it is: my first episode. I've recorded on my webcam from my laptop because I couldn't seem to get the DSLR positioned correctly. So next time I should have better video and audio quality once I get the hang of things. I know the color is a bit off and there is quite a bit of background noise, but I've done my best post production to tone it down a bit. Hopefully you enjoy what you see and don't find me dreadfully boring.
Finished Objects
None shown in the video, but I've included a photo of my Mitt Envy fingerless mittens that I completed for the first Testing round for Amy of Vivid Fiber Arts. The testing group can be found here.
Hi I'm Brittney. Twenty something mother, lover, and maker of things. I knit, crochet, dye yarn, and dabble in sewing. This is my life and the things that I make. I'm keeping this space to post my video podcasts as well as any other blog posts I may happen to think of.
